Windows 10 for phones preview build is set to launch this February, but we don’t have a precise date. However, a huge leak by NokiaPowerUser unveils some Windows 10 for phones features captured on a Lumia 1520. So, let’s talk about them.
The first Windows 10 for phones feature we’ve seen before Microsoft’s press conference from January 21 was the start screen with translucent tiles and full wallpaper background. Now it’s confirmed, because one of the screenshots reveals this feature. Also, the app list has a background wallpaper, too, but the transparency is lower in order to increase the text readability. In addition, the rumors about a vertical tile are now confirmed too.
Windows 10 for phones will have a new file manager with a new UI similar to Windows 8.1 and among other features, there is a new feedback app, a redesigned call dialer screen and some universal apps (Xbox, Maps, Alarm Clock). Moreover, there are new personalization settings with unknown advanced settings (leaked screenshots are in chinese). And, as we’ve seen on January 21, Windows 10 for phones has new keyboard options, such as layout-adjustment to type with one hand (for big display devices like Lumia 1520) and the voice button for speech to text input, which was presented at the conference on January 2015. Also there is an integrated audio-recording app which lets you to share recorded files through e-mail or OneDrive storage, but you can’t record calls. Anyway, it’s a good feature, so users won’t need a thirdy-part app for audio-recording. More noticeable features are related to USB settings, still with no OTG support, alongside a redesigned Settings page, with new icons and description.
What do you think so far? Are you satisfied with these new features? What’s missing? What features would you like to see in Windows 10 for phones? If you ask me, I want apps (Google apps and many more).
